Probinsya Travel: Things to Check out Before Heading out on a Roadtrip

Like any traveler who just can’t get his fix on traveling to the provinces, I make sure that everything is prepared before any trip. You never want to mess things up out in the open road, right? So to help you out on your road trips, here are a few tips that you may want to look into:

Here’s one for the Road. Actually, make that a lot
Always stock up on food for your trip. Having a roadtrip over to a province in the Philippines (let’s say, down south in Batangas), are often lengthy and tiring. Sure, you can have stop-overs every now and then, but that’s just going to make your trip even longer. Have something to eat before you head out on the road. Make sure it’s heavy! And for the trip itself, have some snacks – like biscuits or sandwiches – ready. Bottled water would also come in handy, so make sure you have a cooler with you.

I’m Up and Ready? How about my Car?
Even a week before your scheduled roadtrip, make sure to have your car checked. If it needs to be tuned-up, then go for it. You wouldn’t want to encounter any breakdowns in the road – not only will it be costly, you might be setting yourself up on being robbed as well. Also, make sure you’ve got some car mechanic tools and a spare tire with you on your trip. You can never be sure, so it’s always best to be ready.

So we’re on our way there! Wait a minute, who’ll pay the toll?
Being an extra amount of money is always a good thing. You need to assure yourself that you’ll access to some funds, in case of emergencies. Also, make sure to set a budget for your toll fees. This will prove extra handy, for you not to count your change every time you pay up.

I’m Dizzy. Can we go home?
Staying in a vehicle for quite some time can make anybody sick. And with the various road conditions in the Philippines, traveling over to provinces can actually be a challenge. It can also be vomit-inducing (that’s the worst thing that can happen inside a car!). Avoid this by bringing medication with you. Aside from a general first aid kid, purchasing anti-dizziness pills will help you and your passengers get through the trip.

Provincial roadtrips in the Philippines are actually common. It’s a great way of exploring the country! But proper preparation is needed to get through the road. Follow these tips for a safe and wonderful drive, and make sure to have some fun!
